In a groundbreaking move, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) is spearheading the establishment of over 10,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by FY25. This strategic initiative is set to reshape India’s electric mobility landscape.
Collaboration with CPOs:
TPEM has joined hands with major Charge Point Operators (CPOs) like ChargeZone, Glida, Statiq, and Zeon to revolutionize the EV charging infrastructure in the country. These collaborations aim to leverage Tata’s insights and the CPOs’ innovative solutions to enhance the charging experience.
Current EV Charging Scenario in India:
India currently lags behind in charging infrastructure, with approximately 200 EVs per commercial charging point. This initiative seeks to bridge this gap, promoting EV adoption not only in cities but also along crucial national highways.
Telematics Insights for Enhanced Experience:
Tata’s telematics insights, drawn from a fleet of over 1.15 lakh Electric Vehicles (EVs) on Indian roads, will play a pivotal role. These insights will guide CPOs in strategically placing chargers at locations frequented by Tata EV owners, enhancing the overall customer experience.
Smart Payment Solutions:
Additionally, TPEM and its partners are exploring the implementation of a smart payment gateway. This could involve co-branded RFID cards, ensuring seamless and convenient payment processes for Tata EV users.
National Imperative for EV Adoption:
Balaje Rajan, Chief Strategy Officer at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and TPEM, emphasizes that EV adoption is a national imperative to combat urban pollution. The collaboration with CPOs reflects Tata’s commitment to accelerating India’s transition to e-mobility.
This collaboration signifies more than a business tie-up; it is a shared vision for the future of mobility. Raghav Arora, Co-founder & CTO of Statiq, sees this as an opportunity to redefine the EV landscape, introducing technologies that will shape the industry for years to come.
